What is Nude Pickleball and Where Do You Play It Naked?
Hey girls and boys, who are we to judge if you and your friends (or whomever) want to strip down and play a game of Pickleball.

From Kissimmie to Calgary, we can’t believe it’s real, either. But yes, apparently clothing-optional resorts are hosting Pickleball getaways (as well as holding tournaments) and it’s catching on. With older folks. In Florida. Because of course, Florida.
Heck, they even have Naked Pickleball mugs and shirts.
It seems like a highly illegal thing to try and pull of in today’s day and age, but maybe people aren’t so litigious after all? Then again, we are talking about private courts in private resorts.
Ok, enough private talk, let’s get break this concept down.
What do you need to play Pickleball in the buff?
Technically, all you need to play Pickleball in the nude is two paddles, a pickleball, and a net. However, we highly recommend a few other things, especially if you aren't playing in a clothing optional private resort.
For starters, you're going to want a good pair of shoes. Even if your goal is The Full Monty, slapping your bare feet on a concrete court will get old (and fast). You're might also want a case for your paddle.
Unless of course you're bringing your pickleball bag to the event. We recommend that you consider this option, as a towel, snacks and some water are key to a day on the courts, clothed or not.

What the Pros use:
Another thing those two pros each bring to the hardcourt is a hat. And sunscreen. Once again, sunscreen is key to not burning your skin.

Where Are People Playing Pickleball Nude?
Well, we’ve already covered Florida. But apparently people are trying to find places to play Pickleball in the buff in Arizona (AZ), California (CA), Maryland (MD), and Ohio (OH). The first time we heard about this phenomenon was from The Pickler, a blog focused exclusively on the game.
Apparently this has been going on for two decades. The Pickler drops an excellent quote from Mike Sullivan, a resident of Cypress Cove Nudist Resort in Kissimmee, Florida and also an ambassador of USA Pickleball.
“That’s just a drinking game,” Sullivan said. “They play four hours a week, and it’s scheduled around happy hour. We play pickleball all the time.”
So once again, it all comes around to college-style shenanigans. Despite their age, everyone is just looking for an excuse to make nudity acceptable, especially while drinking.
Naturist Resorts Attract Nude Pickleball Players
Building on that Mike Sullivan quote, if Pickleball is exploding in popularity, thanks to the decline of tennis and the closing of bowling alleys, then it would serve Naturist Resorts well to build pickleball courts to support the growing body of interested parties.
Another place that (probably?) serves Nude Pickleball on tap is Eden RV Resort in Hudson, Florida. It’s an 11 acre clothing-optional haven for folks who prefer their racquet sports to be exciting in less traditional ways. Pickleball probably took over in popularity after the volleyball court was grown over.

How to Enjoy Pickleball Naked
- Don’t play it.
- However, if you’re going to play Nude Pickleball, wear sunblock.
- Play to win. Because why play if not.
You know, in some regards, maybe you want to start clothed and play Strip Pickleball? That way most of the game is kept classy. Or, if you’re playing a pickleball tournament, maybe each successive round is one less article of clothing?
Also, does one remove their pickleball or tennis shoes? Or do they not count for disrobing purposes?

It’s one thing to conduct private events from the comfort of your own home, like ping-pong with no clothes on. But it’s amazing (to us) that there is such popularity around naked events out in the world.

Maybe the reason that viewership is down for the NFL and for Major League Baseball is because people are too busy playing Pickleball naked?

Ok ok, jokes aside, we’re sure Nude Pickleball is fun for those that enjoy these types of things. Just don’t count on it being the official state sport of Florida any time soon.
